Privacy Policy for Image Snatch Chrome Extension

This Privacy Policy explains how the Image Snatch Chrome Extension ("the Extension") handles your information. This Extension is designed to provide a simple tool for accessing images on webpages while respecting your privacy.

1. Information We DO NOT Collect

The Image Snatch Extension is built with a strong focus on user privacy. As such, we want to make it absolutely clear that the Extension DOES NOT collect, store, or transmit any of the following types of user data:

• Personally Identifiable Information (PII): We do not collect your name, address, email address, age, identification numbers, or any other information that could identify you personally.
• Browsing History: We do not track, record, or have access to your browsing history across different websites or over time. The Extension only interacts with the single tab you are actively viewing.
• User Activity: We do not monitor or log your clicks, mouse movements, keystrokes, scrolling, or other activity on webpages, except for the direct interaction required to use the Extension itself (i.e., clicking the Extension icon or clicking an image thumbnail within the popup).
• Sensitive Information: We do not collect health information, financial information, authentication credentials (passwords, PINs), or personal communications (emails, chat messages).
• Location Information: We do not collect your precise or approximate location.
• Data from Other Tabs or Windows: The Extension only operates on the specific tab that is active and in focus when you choose to use the Extension. It does not access information from other open tabs or browser windows.

2. Information the Extension INTERACTS With

The sole purpose of the Image Snatch Extension is to help you access images on the webpage you are currently visiting. To achieve this, the Extension temporarily interacts with the content of the active webpage.

• Website Content (Images and URLs): When you click the Image Snatch Extension icon, the Extension accesses the structure (DOM) of the webpage currently loaded in your active tab. Its purpose is to identify image elements (like <img> tags) and potentially other elements containing image references (like CSS background images). It extracts the source URLs and dimensions of these images.

3. How Information is Used

The website content (specifically, image URLs and related data) that the Extension interacts with is used exclusively for the following purposes, within your browser and under your control:

• To display thumbnail previews of the found images in the Extension's popup window.
• To allow you to open a selected full-sized image in a new browser tab when you click its thumbnail in the popup.

This information is processed transiently in your browser's memory while the Extension popup is open. It is not stored persistently on your device (beyond standard browser caching handled by Chrome itself) and is not transmitted to our servers or any third parties.

4. Data Storage and Retention

The Image Snatch Extension does not store any user data or the image information it extracts on external servers, databases, or any persistent storage mechanisms controlled by the developer. Any information accessed from the webpage is processed in memory and discarded once the Extension popup is closed or the page is navigated away from.

5. Permissions Used

The Extension requires certain permissions to function correctly. These permissions are used strictly for the purposes described above and not for tracking or collecting unnecessary data:

• activeTab: Allows the Extension to temporarily access the content and information about the currently active tab when you click the Extension's toolbar icon. This permission is requested to ensure the Extension only operates on the page you are viewing and only when you explicitly use it.
• scripting: Allows the Extension, when combined with activeTab, to run a small script on the active tab's page upon your click. This script is necessary to scan the page's HTML structure and find the image elements and their source URLs.

6. Third-Party Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties any user data. As the Extension does not collect personal data, there is no personal data to share with third parties.

7. Children's Privacy

Our Extension is not specifically directed toward children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13.

8. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new Privacy Policy on this page with an updated "Effective Date". We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Your continued use of the Extension after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
